Thank you for your interest in graduate programs at the George Washington University's Corcoran School of the Arts and Design. Learn more about our programs and how to apply by attending one of our virtual information sessions or portfolio days.

  • 12:30pm-1:30pm Graduate Campus Tour (optional)

GW offers Graduate Campus Tours of the Foggy Bottom Campus every Friday at 12:30pm. If you’d like to attend a tour, please click here to register. Registration for Graduate Campus Tours will open closer to the event.

Tours will leave from the Admissions Welcome Center, located on the first floor of the University Student Center (800 21st St NW, Washington, DC, 20052).

 

  • 2pm-2:30pm Welcome to the Corcoran

Corcoran Director Dr. Lauren Onkey will welcome students for an introduction to the Corcoran School.

 

  • 2:30pm-3:30pm Program-Specific Open Houses

Following the welcome in Hammer Auditorium, we will break out for program-specific info sessions and open houses.

 

  • 6pm-9pm Legacy Gala (Optional Evening Event)

Students are invited to a gala celebrating our Legacy: Fifty Years of Dance on the Edge exhibition.


National Portfolio Days

The Corcoran School of the Arts and Design is a member of the National Portfolio Day Association, and this year, National Portfolio Day (NPD) events are FREE to attend and some are completely online. Students have the opportunity to meet virtually with our faculty about their portfolio. Please note that admissions decisions are not made at these events. This is an opportunity to speak one-on-one with our faculty about your portfolio, our programs, and how to apply.

Online Information Sessions

Attendees of any information session below will receive a code for a fee waiver, which can be used to apply for admission in 2025. This code eliminates the $80 application fee. You will receive the waiver code via email within a few days after the session.

MA in Art History Information Sessions

Attend an online information session about our Master of Arts in Art History with Mika Natif, Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies for Art History.  Learn how our curriculum encourages students to explore and contribute to the field through a wide range of methodologies and theoretical approaches to art historical studies. As part of this session, we’ll provide information about our program and the expertise of our faculty, as well as fellowship support, details about internship opportunities and career outcomes. You’ll have the opportunity to ask any questions you have about our program and the application process

MFA in Classical Acting Information Session

We invite you to join us for an online information session about our Master of Fine Arts in Classical Acting hosted by program director, Alec Wild. This is an immersive program offered in partnership with the Shakespeare Theatre Company and the George Washington University (also known as The Academy at STC at the George Washington University). The one-year intensive graduate curriculum focuses on the craft of acting Shakespeare and other classical texts culminating with the performance of full-length classical plays. As actors and acting teachers, graduates help transform the way classical theater is performed on Broadway and in regional theaters around the country. As part of this session, you'll have the opportunity to ask any questions you have about our program and the application process.

Join Kevin Patton, Assistant Professor of Interaction Design, for an online information session and Q&A about our Master of Arts in Interaction Design.

The MA in IxD focuses on the role of interaction design in public policy and service delivery, and trains designers to examine, prototype and design concepts that ultimately shape and guide people’s interactions across their everyday lives. Our students create human-centered solutions that impact everything from smart devices to healthcare services. Whether your interests are in the startup, nonprofit, social innovation or government sectors, learn how the Corcoran will prepare you for a role at a consultancy, government agency or design firm.

MFA and MA in Interior Architecture Information Session

Join us to learn more about Interior Architecture at the Corcoran School of the Arts and Design. During this session, we'll present an overview of our programs and resources before breaking out into groups for an in-depth look at either the Master of Fine Arts in Interior Architecture (for students without an undergraduate degree in interior design, interior architecture or architecture) or our new Master of Arts in Interior Architecture (post-professional degree for students with an undergraduate degree in interior design, interior architecture or architecture).

You'll learn about the admission requirements, courses required to complete these degrees, and career outcomes, and you will have the opportunity to ask us your questions about our programs and application process.

MFA in Social Practice Information Sessions

Our MFA in Social Practice program has an emphasis on public policy with the goal of empowering the next generation of artists to bring their studio practice to bear on questions of social justice.

You’ll learn about our curriculum, which is fundamentally interdisciplinary, how our program allows you the freedom to hybridize the fields in which you are active. This program prepares you to think critically, evaluate compassionately and create ethically.
